The Modstock Vltor Weapons System's initial offering was developed from ideas and input from firearms designers and end users, to help the operator to better prepare for any mission. A pioneer design, the Modular Firearm Buttstock (Modstock) aids the operator and succeeds where other stocks have failed - exemplifying the Vltor motto Semper Paratus... Always Prepared.

Starting with a basic chassis/mounting platform, the Modstock allows nearly unlimited mounting possibilities, allowing the operator to adapt to combat environment or mission situations. Currently Vltor offers Sealed Compartments and Cheek Weld Adapters for the Modstock System and is in further development of mountable products designed to allow military, law enforcement and professional security forces prepare for the ever changing conditions they face.

Solutions
The Modstock does not stop with the mounting of accessories; it is truly a system of solutions. The Modstock gives the operator sling mounting choices by not only using familiar "milspec" sling mounts, but also includes Sling Locking Sleeves that accept quick detach sling swivels.

The Modstock offers the end user even more choices, including a unique "Clubfoot" design that allows the shooter to hold and support the base of the stock with the non-firing hand. This odd shaped design has proven to provide better control and a more consistent hold with light machine guns and precision marksmen's rifles. Also available is a choice of locking paddle designs, featuring the unique Vltor Butterfly paddle design that eliminates the problem of slings or gear straps snagging on or releasing the traditional locking latch.

The innovative design of the Modstock also offered for the first time the ability to use either a traditionally styled collapsing stock, or a longer fixed rifle style stock (offering the proper length of pull and cheek weld for precision tactical and match shooting) on the same CAR-15/M4 collapsible receiver extension tube.

Industry Leader
Within a few short years, Vltor Weapons Systems became recognized within the firearms industry for innovative designs and practical solutions - In 2004, Vltor was purchased by Abrams Airborne Manufacturing, Inc., combining the strength and technology of a major aerospace contractor, with the ground breaking ideas and vision Vltor had already became known for. 

One of the first products to benefit from the collaboration was the CASV Handguard System - Specifically developed for the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Groups, the CASV provides an easy to install handguard that once again gives the operator the choice of how it is configured. Because of its versatility, strength and light weight, the CASV quickly became popular with military and law enforcement teams operating around the world. Vltor Weapons Systems is fully dedicated to helping the brave men and women that defend our Nation on foreign soil and those who protect us here at home – we strive to bring them the latest technology, in a practical and reliable package. A prime example of this is the collaboration between Vltor and Milkor USA to develop the state of the art M-32 Grenade Launcher, adopted by the United States Marine Corps.

Function Over Form
One of the most innovative products available from Vltor is the Versatile Interface Structure (VIS) upper receiver assembly, but when seen next to a standard carbine the differences are tough to see. 

The VIS is a polylithic upper receiver assembly that ties the normally individual receiver and handguard into an aggregate single part. This combination overcomes many problems that are associated with the traditional "two piece" design, most notably being greatly improved structural strength and repeatable accuracy. 

While the VIS is not the first one piece upper receiver for the AR-15/M16 family, it is the first design that retains the use of standard barrels, as well as a removable bottom rail section that allows the mounting of the M-203 grenade launcher and all SOPMOD components. Due to popular demand, Vltor also offers the unique receiver section of the VIS as a standalone Modular Upper Receiver (MUR). The MUR is a direct replacement for the MilSpec AR-15/M16 upper receiver that offers exact dimensions and tolerances, improved strength and unique modular design. Find out more about the Vltor MUR. 

Often it seems the little things get overlooked, but not at Vltor -  improvements can be found on many items offered by Vltor: from sling or flashlights mounts, sights, bipods and receiver extension tubes for non-traditional weapons. 

Things to Come
The work never stops...Vltor is continually working with other manufacturers, and military and law enforcement agencies on new products and designs. Current projects include improvements to those little things that a many take for granted, as well as development of total weapons platforms and enhancements to existing systems - but at Vltor we would rather not spend a lot of time talking about what might happen, or what we may do; that time is better spent elsewhere, only when a product is tested and proven will we take a moment to talk about it.
