CASV-KM and Suppressing

We have gotten many inquiries lately about the length of the CASV-KM with concerns to barrel length and suppressing. So we put some rifles together, snapped some pictures, and got out our measuring tape. Below is what we came up with.

The CASV-KM

The CASV-KM handguard is a drop on rail system for any AR-15 platform equipped with an M4 flat top receiver. This year we introduced the CASV-KM, with the integrated KeyMod™ system. The KeyMod™ system breaks from the traditional fixed quad rail setup and allows the operator to decide where accessories or rails are mounted. KeyMod™ also allows for modularity between various different manufactures’ accessories.

Suppressing with the CASV-KM

The trend that we have been seeing over the last few years is that our customers want to be able to have the suppressor partially covered by the handguard. We have picked a couple of popular configurations to show. They would include a 7″, 9″, an 12″ barrel length with our CASV-KM9 and CASV-KM12 lengths. The suppressors that we used are the Gemtech M4 02 thread on suppressor and the Gemtech Halo Titanium Suppressor. While this write up is not exhaustive of all the configurations possible, the measurements should give you a good idea of where to start with your own build. Do not fire any weapon where the flash hider does not protrude outside of the handguard without a suppressor attached. Any use of VLTOR products in this manner will void your warranty.

The center of the first bulkhead is located 4″ back from the front of the handguard. You must measure how far your suppressor will be seated/located inside of the handguard to determine compatibility.

Without modification- the maximum opening of the bulkhead is 1.139″. We do not recommend modification of the bulkhead so your suppressor must have a diameter of less that 1.139″ to have clearance past the bulkhead.
